What the 80/20 rule really looks like (and why it works)
Discover what balanced eating really looks like
Your Daily Habit Challenge: Follow The 80/20 Rule
Yesterday, I introduced you to the idea that balance (not perfection) is what leads to lasting results.
Today, let’s talk about what the 80/20 Rule actually looks like in everyday life.
Here’s the simple version:
80% of your food comes from whole, nutrient-rich foods that fuel your body.
20% comes from foods you love (the ones that make life enjoyable and satisfying.)
It’s not about being perfect.
It’s about making choices that make you feel good most of the time (and leaving space for the things you enjoy some of the time.)
Here’s what that looks like in action:
Breakfast (80): Greek yogurt, fruit, and a sprinkle of granola
Lunch (80): Chicken, rice, and veggies
Snack (20): A handful of chips or a small cookie
Dinner (80/20): Grilled steak, potatoes, and a glass of wine
That’s it. No tracking. No “cheat meals.” No guilt.
Just a balanced approach to eating that fits your lifestyle.
Why it works
The 80/20 Rule works because it removes the pressure to be perfect.
When you allow flexibility, you stop feeling deprived.
And when you stop feeling deprived, you naturally stay consistent.
Consistency beats perfection every single time.
Over time, this way of eating helps you:
Lose weight without feeling restricted
Have more energy throughout your day
Reduce cravings and late-night snacking
Feel confident and in control again
And the best part is, you never have to “start over” again because there’s nothing to quit in the first place.
Your small step for today
Choose one meal today and build it using the 80/20 Rule.
Ask yourself:
“What food choice would make me feel good and satisfied?”
“Can I include something I enjoy without guilt?”
That’s balance in action and it’s the foundation for everything we’ll build this week.
Much love,
Coach Anthony
